Lissajous curves are curves that follow sinusoidal motion in both the vertical and horizontal directions simultaneously but with independent periodicity. This pair of earrings highlights two different Lissajous curves. You can count that one curve bounces horizontally three times while bouncing vertically twice; the other curve bounces horizontally four times in the time that it takes to complete one vertical cycle.
